[Downloads] Junjou Romantica stuff and Mysteria; also APs @ 09:58 pm

my humor: craptastic
the sounds of: Mysteria - Awake Inside a Dream

Well, I certainly feel miserable.

Am a bit late to share, but if anyone likes the pillows, it'd be worthwhile to give pigstar a twirl. You're welcome to download their latest single release "Kimi=Hana" here. It's the opening song to the Junjou Romantica anime, and both tracks are quite enjoyable in my personal opinion. You can find lyrics for "Kimi=Hana" here, and the lyrics for "gore" is just a click away. Much thanks to [info]recodes for all her work. She has the first 5 episodes uploaded, as well as softsub files. Because yes, I got too lazy to upload the other 3 episodes. So for anyone in need of Sakurai-uke and a fluff-yaoi hybrid anime, drop by Junjou.info for goodies. /end shameless plug

Now to the other bit, I've uploaded another album of New Age and Gregorian chant music:

Sendspace away.
My muddled thoughts and minimal comprehension of what I've heard is that the songs are a) in English for the most part, b) lightish in tone here I fail to remember what I learnt in my music appreciation malarkey of a class from last year, and c) very New Age.

I believe I have a French New Age/Gregorian-esque chant album lying about somewhere. I'll need to dig that up sometime.

I took my AP Psychology exam yesterday afternoon. I feel confident enough to say that I'm "qualified" for entry-level Psychology 101 credit, but I won't be finding out until the end of July. Tomorrow is my AP Macroeconomics exam, and I don't even want to consider how my high school completely screwed my class over by making us take said AP exam but not giving us a weighted AP score on our grades... Well, at least I think I 4'd my AP United States Government and Politics exam. I won't start with how I feel about my AP Calculus BC exam. On the 23rd, I'll be taking the late AP English Literature and Composition exam. I do hope I score higher than a 3, so I can get freshman composition credit, too, instead of just entry level writing credit under the "Unassigned" course (and I very well already earned that from my 3 on last year's AP English Language and Composition exam).

Although now that I think about it a bit more, there's a fat chance the credits I earn from acceptable AP exam scores will go into fulfilling some random, unheard of subject area rather than my GEs. I'll essentially be saving myself from elective classes in the end since the university's policy states that "AP credit does not satisfy General Education requirements."

Bah. I find little comfort in the fact that I have Sociology 101 already covered from a previous course at a local community college. Looks like more schooling this summer.

Just to say, pineapple juice does wonders if you suffer from the common cold.

But still, I need a stronger antihistamine, or my exam's answer sheet will have some uncalled for gifts if I'm not too careful. :P Still, it's better than having a nosebleed trying to write out essays or speaking German into a recorder while taming said nosebleed.

...

Ach!

That's one of the scariest thing ever: doing exam with a cold. I hope you'll get better soon! ^^

Thank you for your well wishes!

I took some medicine yesterday, and so far I have been safe from stuffed up noses and watery eyes.
I believe I did fairly well on my exam seeing how there was nothing on Keynesian theory. Economics is not my thing...

[goes to scan and upload Code Geass doujinshi for you] :)

This would be where the US system confuses me rather. Why does AP credit not satisfy General Education requirements? Since it looks like those classes are in sensible subjects and not like that useless General Studies A-level malarkey that so many people seemed to be taking that most universities here have made a distinct mention of how it’s not worth the paper it’s written on as an entry qualification. Or is it specific classes that they’re on about? Which would make more sense.

Pineapple juice? If there’s something specific going on with pineapples that would certainly explain why I ate a quarter of one some time ago when I was feeling ill. I do hope your heath improves and that your hay fever (I presume it’s hay fever at this time of year) gets itself under control.

Edit: Rats, I forgot to thank you for the album download there and mention that while I’m still not entirely sold on E.S. Posthumus’ Cartographer just yet, I am terribly fond of Unearthed right now.

I have a theory that, in a nutshell, is a blunt claim where the University of California system loathes the idea of students getting out of GEs because that'd be thousands of dollars "lost" from tuition per head. The CollegeBoard AP Program and subsequent curriculum started so that students can take a chance to challenge themselves and, basically, take a chance to skip first year rudimentary courses at university. There are colleges and universities that accept exam scores as enough proof to exempt incoming students from GEs because said exams are similar, if not exactly alike, to what freshmen university students go through. It just so happens that the UCs (UCLA in particular) want to be picky and bitchy about rewarding incoming students GE credits; but we're supposed to be happy that we're getting credit anyway for units that won't really matter for our major of interest/degree. It's bad enough that the UC regents recently chose to up tuition fees, and with this state's governator failing to bring up a pleasing budget plan, I won't be too surprised to see more fees spiking up in my years of undergraduate and graduate studies; but it's another thing when the UC institution chooses to not give students the credit to satisfy GE requirements and expects us to cough up more funds for an education previously learnt in high school. Because if said high school lesson was sub par, a student's poorer performance would be an accurate enough reflection.
There also exists a fear that public high school teachers tend to inflate the final grades of their students - and I certainly won't deny this from my campus at the very least - so I suppose I can understand if the UCs are wary of falsified high performance, but marks from one teacher do not say much compared to a score from an exam taken by millions of students across the globe. Though I warrant that this viewpoint would spark up the argument that standardized tests do not do justice for each and every student which is a just rebuttal, I believe that the AP grading committee opts to grade exams on a curve from time to time.
The debate goes both ways, but I really think it's some of the more "prestigious" (read: costly) institutions that are overly selective about how they go about classifying, rewarding, and accepting top tier AP exam scores for GE credit.

I'm not exactly familiar with the properties of pineapple, but they certainly do work when you're ailing from a commonish malady. My mother says it's the vitamin C at which I say that it's very potent vitamin C working there.
I don't think I have hay fever, though I wouldn't put it past my sinuses to start reacting to the seasonal changes going on this time. If the muscle aches, fatigue, and fever are any indication, I just have your sinister ambassador of the cold microbing about in my system. As long as the strain doesn't complicate itself, then I should be fine in a few days or so.

I also express the same feelings about Cartographer. There are only a handful of songs that have mildly caught my attention ("Sollente" as one), but no track is particularly spectacular to me. On the other hand, Unearthed boasts my personal favourites, "Nara" and "Pompeii," though it may very well be that I'm somewhat generally disappointed with Cartographer because there's a certain quality that feels wanting.
And if I could just direct you to this~ :)

That does sound handy at least, being able to skip the usually refresher courses that is. You simply can’t do that here so regardless of whether or not you’re A-Levels were more informative that somebody else’s you still have to sit through the refresher courses that make sure that everybody is up to the same level. I think I do even distinctly remember sleeping through some first year genetics courses as a result.
Curved grading on the other hand and over-inflated scores are quite the worry. I once sat a chemistry exam where the class marks covered the exact marks needed for each grade. We were all very suspicious as a result. Though in contrast I also recall at some point during GCSE English where once the exam board inspectors did make their rounds to take a look at some of the work being produced so as to make sure that teachers weren’t overestimating their teaching prowess one entire class was decidedly marked down since the teacher had been over inflating her class’ grades and my course work was moved up a grade which was handy since I had a racist English teacher at the time who didn’t seem at all able to teach but that’s another issue really.

Do make sure to rest. I can’t honestly think of any other useful advice when it comes to the nefarious cold other than advising you not to use too much harsh nasal spray like Sinex if you are using that sort of thing. I thought I’d burnt out the inside of my sinuses when I made a little too much use of it once upon a time.

Cartographer seems like an attempt at more mainstream marketable ‘easy listening’ in comparison to Unearthed. Of course the fact that I’m terribly fond of Nara as well as the likes of Ebla and Niveneh is probably indicative of nothing in Cartographer really suiting my tastes anyway. I like thunderous battle themes and music that could be the backdrop to glorious scenes of tragic heroism when I listen to this sort of thing. Though I do also like this sort of thing too.
